CONJURING AND THE SCOURGE

darkovs conjure weapons from within their bodies: a mix of bone, metals, and a supernatural substance that surely isn’t magic on any level what are you talking about that’s just silly.

willpower and biology are varying factors for each individual when it comes to the quality of weapon and ability to manifest it for lengths of time, but all are on very limited times. once the weapon is gone, there’s a backlash of all the contents returning to their source, with a waste material produced that is extremely damaging if not purged quickly. 

the longer a weapon is manifested, the more violent the backlash. it can result in rashes, sores, swelling of veins, and other aggravations of skin and blood that last from a few hours to a couple days, depending on intensity. it’s called a scourge.

there are two extremes on the spectrum the brothers Peter and Aric 7 embody: enduring and explosive conjuring

enduring conjuring is the ability to regulate the expulsion of power, often going through multiple conjures of varying degrees of physical integrity. this stop-and-start style often causes scourge in a greater number of areas of the body, given the strains it puts on not just the conjuring point, but the rest of the body trying to stop and start the flow of power. it tends to come with more long-term problems like muscle or joint pain, heart palpitations, or stomach problems.

explosive conjuring is what it sounds like: massive amounts of power given up all at once to force a weapon to remain intact for as long as the body can cope. it causes severe scourge nearest the source that lasts a long time. it can cause blackouts, cardiac or respiratory arrest, or other extreme failures caused by sudden and intense shocks to the body.

most darkovs have a mix of both conjuring styles according to their physical and mental comfort levels, as they are taught to adjust to what works best with their own bodies.
